Drift Masters: Round 5

By Cody Whisinnand

Going into Drift Master Round 5 Baggsy was feeling hungry for the podium. The Team at SB Motorsport worked tirelessly to ensure the PS13V8 was back and ready to shred rubber.

As qualifiers were underway with a packed grid on one of the most technical and fastest tracks in Europe, Baggsy was ready to battle. Burning up two clean rounds Baggsy landed the highest score of 86. Nabbing the 19th spot he was ready to slaughter the competition.

With over 5,000 spectators and over 500,000 viewing online Baggsy was ready to put on a show. Matching with Johannes Hountondji, in the Top 32, Baggsy showed the world he meant business by taking down the Red Bull Drift brother, advancing him to the Top 16 round.

As darkness fell on the track Baggsy burned his way to the Top 4 leaving a trail of dust and fallen competitors. He was ready, and thirsty for blood.

The Top 4 was no easy challenge. Matched with Polish driver Pawel Korpulinski, Baggsy knew he was going to have to show up with his A game. Running hard, he pulled ahead bagging the win, and the judge’s favour.

In the Finals, he found himself in a familiar position facing off against James Deane. In the previous year's face off Baggsy was able to grasp the win. After a competitive chase, with both drivers pushing each other to perform their best Deane pulls ahead to nab the 1st

Getting 2nd to Deane has the upside of putting Great Britain in 3rd place in the DMEC Nations Cup standings. Being more than just a podium, after 2 years of some unfortunate luck. After fighting through each difficult situation, Baggsy is proof that hard work and determination ultimately persevere.
